Iran’s short ‘Oblivion’ garners award at the 2019 Setting Sun Film Festival in Australia.

Iran’s short ‘Oblivion’ has managed to garner an award at the 2019 edition of the Setting Sun Film Festival in Australia.

Directed by Fatemeh Mohammadi, ‘Oblivion’ received the Best Short Film Cultural Diversity award at the Australian event.

Produced by Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the short film depicts the challenges facing old people.

“Old people are passed into oblivion when their loved ones forget about them,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Earlier this month, the film won the Second Best Film award at the 2nd edition of the Shahu International Film Festival in India.

The film has also attended several global events, including the Phoenix Film Festival, the Buffalo International Film Festival, the Post Alley Film Festival, all in the US, as well as the Mercy to Universe International Short Film Competition in Turkey.

The Setting Sun Film Festival is “the premier film festival in Melbourne’s West.” The gala will take place on May 2-6, 2019.
